Here we go… another year and another chance to get it right! There is a lot of talk right now about change and making resolutions. It is a chance to make this year better than the last one. You really do have the power to co-create the life you want.

I am grateful for all the lessons learned last year. I had some amazing new experiences and met some fantastic people that I will be collaborating with in 2013, in fact that is my word of the year; collaboration. Watch for many learning opportunities that I will be offering this year. Very excited to help you plan to get to living your dreams!

Each year I recommend you to pick a word that will guide you throughout the year. This will be your touchstone and remind yourself of your intentions for the year. Let me give you an example. Let’s say that you are one of many people who want to have more money. Let’s say you choose ‘Wealth’ as your word. You look at your own situation and see debt, no savings or no financial plan; you are tired of the stress and chaos. So you think, “I need to increase my wealth. That should be my New Year’s resolution this year!”

You decide to try it. You sit with your debt and no plan. So you spend a few days pondering words that will inspire you. You realize in an ‘ah-ha’ moment that you tend to make excuses and beat yourself up for letting your money situation get you to this place. So instead you choose the word; Compassion, because it inspires you in a bigger way than ‘get wealthy’.

So every time you approach your finances you remind yourself of that word. “Compassion,” you say softly. You start to let your old money habits go and realize that the past doesn’t equal the future. Eventually, you realize that you’re still holding on to lots more than just poor money management. You realize that you hold onto resentments of your old ways. “Compassion,” you remind yourself.

You realize that holding on may have affected your health. “Compassion” applies to some of the extra weight you may have gained as well. Throughout this year, you can use “Compassion” as your touchstone. It grows in you throughout the year. It becomes your guiding force, not your harsh standard.

Your money habits become your teacher simply because you shifted your intent towards it. This wouldn’t have happened if you’d opted only to “Get Wealthy.”

I find that this is the hardest part for most people… letting go. Letting go of the past, limiting beliefs, situations, and sometimes people that no longer serve you.

Start the New Year with the attitude that this is a fresh start and holds all the promise of being your best year yet. Don’t focus on what went wrong last year or the goals that you didn’t reach. Start a clean slate, set your new goals, learn from the past, accept the present and intend the future.

I wish you a healthy prosperous 2013!

Cheers,

Shari
